Paul uses the words "joy" and "rejoice" 7.5 times more frequently in Philippians as in the rest of his writings and 11 times more frequently as in the rest of the New Testament—although he is writing from prison resulting from bogus accusations by enemies of the gospel and with mis-motivated believers trying to distress and one up him by preaching the gospel while he was confined!
We get to learn from mature Paul, in the last season of his life and very fruitful ministry, key aspects of His close walk with the Lord that enabled him to continue to serve wisely and with great joy.
Including:
- How to pray effectively with the Lord to facilitate hope and real growth
- What does the Lord promise and delight to do even in unfair, unjust situations, always accomplishing more in multiple people’s lives than we could possibly engineer?
- What is our inexhaustible supply that enables us to pour the Lord’s goodness into real people who are still very much in the process of growing just as we are, without burning out or resorting to “faking it” out of duty?
- Freedom from the drivenness and paralyzing fears from perfectionism to serve much more effectively with joy and peace in all that the Lord calls us to including academics, work and relationships.
- Freedom from the frequent pressure to anxiety and stress or consuming distraction from circumstances and people. Building a lifestyle, instead, of welcoming each real concern as an invitation from the Lord to build reliant partnership with Him for real life, growth and effective service.
- Understanding the secret to contentment and walking in it in seasons of abundance and seasons of want.
